There is a dog, there is love. Love is pure energy that changes everyone. We live to experience it, to find the proverbial half of an apple or an orange. Love can be one for life. Then the person who has been met with such a feeling experiences fulfillment. The meaning of man’s life is the search for this love, the love of man for another person.
And how to define the love of a person for an animal? Is it also the kind of love that makes it possible to reach the heights? Perhaps it is, however, these are truly exceptional cases. One of them is a man – John Unger from Wisconsin in the United States and his dog Schoep. This Affection spelled with a capital letter is simply incredible and touches every heart.
Schoep is a 19-year-old dog who suffers from arthritis and insomnia. His owner John Unger has decided to do anything for his four-legged friend to relieve his suffering. Every evening he takes Schoep to the lake and lets the dog fall asleep in his arms. Such therapy allows the animal to fall asleep peacefully and soothe his endless pain. Unger says that Schoep is simply everything to him. What’s more, he owes his life to the dog, as he came close to committing suicide and the dog was his only friend, thanks to which the American stayed alive.

There is also the sad story of Oden ‘s dog and his master Jason Wood? The eloquent video showing the last moments of the friends together is moving to tears. You can see how much this man loves his dog to the extreme. The sight of tears in a mature man is a rarity so looking at such a picture you can immediately see that this love is real. Oden was euthanized because he was suffering greatly from complications from cancer. Wood had no other choice and made the difficult decision to put his friend to sleep. The film depicts the last scenes of the dog’s life on the way to the vet, the procedure and the emotions that accompany this event.
Also recalled is the character of the extraordinary dog Hachiko, who daily waited for his master Hidesamuro Ueno a Japanese professor at the train station from which the scientist traveled to work. The dog escorted his master to the same place every day and waited for his return each time. One day Ueno did not return because he died of a heart attack while at the university. The remarkable thing about this story is that the dog waited all the time for its owner to show up at the station. The faithful four-legged dog returned to the same place every day for 10 years and looked out for his master. The Japanese people were not indifferent to Hachiko and after his death a monument was built to commemorate the dog’s faithfulness and devotion. A Hollywood touching film was also made about the friendship linking Hachiko and his owner.
As it turns out, there are many such stories, unfortunately they often remain hidden. And this is a pity, because they open our eyes and allow us to see more in life than money and other goods associated with them. They show the uniqueness of simple relationships, because, after all, an animal gives a human being the most beautiful, simplest uncomplicated love for such small gestures.
