For years, city cars have been viewed through the prism of mere functionality, low maintenance costs and easy maneuverability – they were not expected to give driving pleasure. However, one does not exclude the other. That’s the assumption Suzuki has come up with, launching a very interesting variant of its global hit, the Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid. Find out more about this version and learn about its key advantages.
It is very often the case that the more powerful engine versions of a given model are somehow not particularly different from the base variants. Suzuki, however, decided to approach the matter quite differently and give its customers one more reason to be interested in just the Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid version. It is, of course, about the styling.
In this version, the Swift evokes even more excitement. There are several exterior details that betray the car’s sporty ambitions. These include larger wheels with alloy wheels, a rear bumper with a striking diffuser and a double exhaust tip. “Tasty features” reserved for the Sport Hybrid version were also present inside – here the attention is immediately drawn to the half bucket seats, providing excellent lateral support (and very comfortable, by the way).

The Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid is a car that is primarily intended to generate a lot of excitement behind the wheel. Responsible for this is the well-known 1.4 BOOSTERJET gasoline engine with 129 horsepower, which offers 235 Nm of torque. The driver has at his disposal an extremely precise 6-speed manual transmission.
The relatively small power output is more than enough – take into account the low kerb weight of this model. As a result, the Swift accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 9 seconds, while the top speed is as high as 220 km/h. Such performance should satisfy most drivers, especially since we are talking about a city car, very comfortable and practical for everyday use.
Suzuki once again proves that like few manufacturers it can combine extremely different worlds – in this case, sport and economy. The described version of the Suzuki Swift uses a mild hybrid, or so-called “soft hybrid” system. It provides not only a significant reduction in fuel consumption, especially in city traffic, but also noticeably better dynamics when starting and accelerating.
The mild hybrid system consists of a 48-volt ISG 10kW starter/generator supporting the combustion engine with 50 Nm of torque, a lithium-ion battery (48V) and an inverter (from 48V to 12V). The whole thing works practically unnoticeable for the driver, and at the same time failure-free – this system absolutely does not need to be feared.
It is also worth mentioning that the Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid in city traffic consumes only 5.6 liters of gasoline per hundred – a great result, especially for the performance of this engine version.
The Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid is available at the brand’s authorized dealer, MM Cars Suzuki, in Katowice, Zabrze, Lubin and Warsaw.
