Polish regulations indicate several documents that a driver should have in order to drive a car. The basis is the driver’s license, which is proof of driving privileges. In addition to it, we must have valid liability insurance and a registration certificate. Admittedly, the amended regulations do not impose an obligation to have these documents on paper, but we must nevertheless ensure that all “papers” are in order.,0
Registration card
As we mentioned, the registration card can be counted among the list of the most important documents we must have in order to travel by car. It is in it that we find important information about the vehicle’s body number, its registration number, date of manufacture, first registration or technical parameters. On one of the pages we have a place for stamps, confirming that the periodic inspection has been carried out.

A technical inspection can only be performed at diagnostic stations authorized to certify the condition of the vehicle. During it, in addition to checking the brake system, wheel alignment or emission levels, the diagnostician verifies the body numbers and provides the current mileage of the car. These are basic activities for which the driver must pay once a year 99 zlotys, or 162 zlotys if the car is equipped with a gas installation. Is an inspection necessary?
Do I need to inspect the car?
There can be only one answer to this question – yes, if you want to drive in accordance with Polish regulations. Of course, not every driver has to appear at the district inspection station once a year. Among those exempted from this obligation are owners of new cars, who do not have to make the examination until 3 years after the date of first registration. Note that although we do not need to carry a paper registration certificate, all technical tests are recorded in a central database, so verification of their validity by a police officer is very simple.
To avoid surprises before visiting the diagnostician, it is advisable to go to a friendly car repair shop and make the necessary repairs, especially if the car is already old. This will avoid the need for additional tests, which may be ordered by the diagnostician if a vehicle defect is detected in the event of an inspection.
