How to save money effectively? Many times we promise ourselves that we will start saving money. However, few of us turn words into action. Why? Because we don’t know how to go about it, we tell ourselves “I’ll start saving from next week, from next month, from next paycheck” and so on endlessly. And you need to start saving today, now, right away! If you don’t know how to do it, contact an independent financial advisor!
Where to start? From the simplest things, from what we can save on at home, in the commute to work. In order for us to start putting money away we must first reduce our expenses. What can we save on at home? On electricity, on water, on gas, on food, on phone bills.
We can reduce our electricity bills in a very simple way, just turn off the lights in a room where we are not staying, pull the chargers out of the socket when the phone is charging. In rooms where we spend a lot of time, replace ordinary light bulbs with energy-efficient ones. If you plan to buy an electrical appliance, consider one that is energy efficient. A refrigerator or freezer should not stand near a stove, hob. Let’s also remember not to open the refrigerator unnecessarily, and when frost appears defrost the device because this increases energy consumption. Instead of an electric kettle, let’s use an ordinary one.

We will get less water consumption if we remember a few simple things. The most important is to turn off the water when brushing teeth, washing hands. If we don’t have a dishwasher, let’s not wash dishes under running water. Let’s take a shower instead of a bathtub full of water. Let’s not throw garbage , food scraps into the toilet, that’s what the garbage can is for. Each flush of the toilet is another few liters of water.
Also on gas we can save not small amounts of money. When cooking just make sure that the pot is wider than the burner. Do not cook for too long, overcooked food is not tastier and certainly not healthier. A pressure cooker can be a good solution. Our phone bills can also be smaller. If you have a postpaid phone and can’t control the number of hours you talk, it may be worth considering dropping the subscription and using a prepaid phone. For others, it’s worth using again, for example, a low subscription in which we have, for example, a few hours for free.
For food, it’s not worth saving money, as it can backfire on our health. However, we can look on the Internet and find recipes for inexpensive, healthy dishes. Let’s not buy ready-made dishes, they are more expensive than those prepared by ourselves and on top of that they have a lot of chemicals and preservatives in them. Let’s not waste food. Let’s beware of eating out, buying a lot of sweets, alcohol.
Let’s prepare sandwiches for work, instead of buying from a buffet or convenience store. Let’s consider whether we need to commute to work by car, maybe it’s worth switching to a bicycle(provided we don’t have a very far commute), or take the bus.
Once we learn how to do things simply, we can reduce our living costs quite a lot. Everything really depends on us.
