How and with what to remove limescale in the kitchen, shower, sink, faucet, etc.? There is no denying that every housewife fights in various ways against the ubiquitous scale. This one settles in the electric kettle, washing machine, dishwasher, toilet, on faucets. Getting rid of it is not a simple task, due to the fact that about 90% of households are supplied with hard water, which is the main cause of scale formation. Scale has a porous structure, which becomes a perfect habitat for bacteria. This phenomenon is very troublesome because the bacteria in it secrete substances that give an ugly, unsightly color and smell. The most important problem, however, is the very presence of these microorganisms, as the bacteria that populate the surface of the stone become difficult to remove.
Home (and not only) ways of removal:
Stainless steel sink – to prevent scale buildup on its surface, wipe it with a dry cloth after each wash. Once the deposits appear, let’s treat it with a warm solution of vinegar or citric acid. To restore the shine of the sink you can wipe it with a cloth soaked in sparkling water.
We clean stained faucets over sinks with Cillit, and we can use juice or citric acid.
Coffee maker and kettle can be cleaned with citric acid mixed with water, it is as effective as descaler.
Limescale from the kettle can also be removed by boiling potato peelings in it. If the sediment does not go away – pour some vinegar, cover with a lid and leave it for 3-4 days. Then shake vigorously, rinse several times and boil the water. It is better to pour off the first and second boiled water, and only use the third for tea.

Vinegar is equally effective ? with a solution diluted in water you can clean the faucets.
Scale in the toilet will remove heated vinegar. It should be poured into the bowl and left for half an hour.
Vitamin C will also work in the toilet. It is enough to drop two 1000 milligram effervescent tablets into the shell overnight, or a mixture made from 2 tablespoons of citric acid and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. In the morning, scrub the shell and drain the water – this will eliminate the sediment accumulated below the water level.
In addition, if you pour boiling water with vinegar (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water) into the toilet bowl once a week, it will not build up scale.
You can remove limescale from the shower screen by unscrewing it from the fixture and immersing it in warm vinegar or limescale remover for about 15 minutes. After this time, clean with a toothbrush and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
To remove limescale from the tap, it is a good idea to put a cloth soaked in hot vinegar on the place you want to clean. Such a compress is left for about an hour, and then wipe and gently rub off the deposit.
What we have in our kitchen and medicine cabinet can be a more effective means of removing scale than the most expensive preparations from supermarkets. So it’s worth trying home remedies, which have been used successfully for years.
