There are quite a few solutions, the use of which, improves work efficiency in various businesses. Many companies are now recognizing the benefits of digitization and automation of most workplace processes.
Digitalization is becoming more and more common, and it is even difficult to imagine maintaining a competitive position in the market without the use of sophisticated tools and information systems, created by specialized programmers. Until a few years ago, the focus was on unitary action, in selected sectors of a single company. Nowadays, one thinks far more comprehensively. This is how digital supply chains are emerging, transforming the functionality of global business.
Digital supply chains involve digitizing the flow of information in logistics processes between all links involved in the flow of goods. Most often, these are IT solutions and systems that can be accessed by all stakeholders. Many times the system itself is connected to a number of other elements, creating IoT (Internet of Things), allowing for comprehensive and efficient operation, guaranteeing profits, security and more efficient execution of tasks.
What is gained by all this? For example, internal communication is simplified, between suppliers and manufacturers or external parties (e.g. customs for international trade). At the same time, the flow of messages between the company and customers is improved. Thanks to this, the risk of making mistakes decreases, the whole process is faster, simpler and definitely more convenient for all parties involved.
Digitization is also a revolution in data archiving and processing. This is because information systems are created by experienced programmers who tailor tools to the needs of a particular entity. In practice, this means the creation of comprehensive solutions that not only help with day-to-day operations, but also preserve all information by performing archiving in the cloud.
Thanks to this, at any time and from anywhere, all interested parties have access to the necessary information, and the process of analysis, classification of data becomes much simpler and more convenient. You can easily prepare precise reports, based on specific numbers. This translates into making business decisions and creating investment and development plans, based on the actual needs of the company and the entire supply chain.

IT systems are one thing. Alongside them is the gradual robotization and automation of supply chain processes.
The use of robots, which take over some of the duties of workers, improves efficiency, reduces unnecessary waste and generates solid profits for entire supply chains. In many cases, IoT-enabled machines support manufacturing and logistics processes. They come in handy on production floors, in warehouses and in transportation. In the latter area, automation and robotization are yielding the most spectacular results.
Indeed, commercial tests of fully autonomous trucks are already underway in Sweden, and courier companies, including DHL, for example, are planning to use drones to make deliveries of goods within major cities.
Robots and humans are thus beginning to work together for even better results that benefit all links in the chain – from suppliers, manufacturers and shippers to final consumers.
Digital supply chains are transforming economies around the world, broadening horizons and increasing opportunities in every area.
The primary benefit is, of course, increased efficiency and reduced time required for specific tasks. Robotization of processes and digitization of information flows also reduce the likelihood of errors.
Better organization of tasks and delegation of responsibilities, more economical use of raw materials, optimization of machinery and delivery fleets – all this leads to solid savings and, consequently, profits for companies.
At the same time, faster production and delivery also means an increase in customer satisfaction, one of the most important factors shaping the development and revolutions taking place in global supply chains.
As we can read in “The 207 MHI Annual Industry Report next-generation supply chain,” which was prepared by Deloitte, as many as 80% of respondents already say that digitization is a necessity for improving chains. In many cases, however, this is not just a prediction for the future, but a reality that we are starting to experience today.
